Bassingham Recycling!

We are another part of BEC. We are the recycling and litter department and we decided to team up and make this page.

Our school manages the recycling bins in the village car park.   We are able to recycle cans, paper and bottles. The money we make from this is used to improve our school environment. This year we want to improve the play ground with some exciting markings, benches and new litter bins.

 We daily recycle the waste from our packed lunches. Vegetable waste goes on the compost heap in the environmental area. Also the crusts from our sandwiches go to chickens in Bassingham (our village).

BEC has asked the pupils at school to bring in old spectacles that are not used anymore to send off to OXFAM for re-using in poor countries.
 

Recycle Those Bags!

  How To Re-use Your Carrier Bags.

1. Use it again to go shopping.

2. Use it for parts of fancy dress costumes.

3. Use it to make a kite.

4. Use it for stopping your windscreen from freezing up.

5. Use it as a sick bag.

6. Use it to make a parachute (toy).

7. When you have muddy shoes put them in a bag and so you don't get mud everywhere.

8. Use one for a very cheap swimming bag.

9. When you go to a football match if the grass is wet then sit on it to keep your bum dry.

10. Use it to protect your work.

11. When you get changed put your spare clothes in it.

Litter Patrol

We organise a Litter Patrol who work in our school every day. They use special litter pickers to pick up any litter that is lying around the school grounds.

We have rotas for each day to say who is doing what and when.

We have four bins in our playground including Helen the Hungry Hippo.

We want people to put their litter in the bin because it keeps the world clean. It  also helps birds and animals to have homes with no pollution or litter to destroy them. If we did put our litter in  bins the world would truly be a better place.
